Malaysia Expecting 3 Million China Tourists in 2018
The number of Chinese visitors to Malaysia is increasing. The Chinese ambassador to Malaysia told us confidently that Malaysia is expecting 3 million Chinese tourists this year with over 12 billion Ringgit tourism income.
"According to statistics, from January to April this year, over 1 million Chinese tourists visited Malaysia and hopefully by the year end can target 3 million."
In conjunction with the Chinese ambassador's reception day, Medias were invited to visit the China visa service center in Kuala Lumpur to understand more about application procedures. Ambassdor Bai Tian quoted that China is currently the largest foreign inbound tourists source to Malaysia, over 2.2 Million tourists came to Malaysia last year with an increase of 7% compared to 2016.
"Malaysia is a country with rich tourism resources and attractions. Many Chinese tourists love to travel to places like Langkawi, Redang Island and Sabah. I believe that under the call of the "2020 Malaysia Tourism Year", more Chinese tourists will be attracted.
On the other hand, the Chinese embassy is currently working with the various departments of Malaysian government to increase more "Chinese tourists service coordination counters" to help Chinese tourists to solve communication and entry problems.
Bai Tian said: "there are only two Chinese tourists service counters at two international airports in Kuala Lumpur (KLIA and KLIA2), it is far less than enough to meet the need of rapidly increasing China tourists, and we want to be able to set up more counters at airports in Penang, Johore and Sabah."
He also revealed that the Chinese embassy is recruiting more volunteers to join the force of "liaison officers" in order to provide first-Aid service for Chinese tourists in case of emergency.
Bai Tian told medias that China Embassy in Malaysia issued over 570,000 visas lat year, the emabssy is to provide better service and convenience to Malaysian who wish to visit China.
