7.8 mln tourists visit Beijing horticultural expo
The 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, the largest of its kind ever, has received about 7.8 million visitors since its opening on April 29, the organizer said.
Among the four main pavilions, the China Pavilion is the most popular one that has attracted more than 4 million visitors so far, according to Ye Dahua, deputy director of Beijing Expo's coordination bureau. On September 13, China's Mid-Autumn Festival, the visitor number reached 86,000.
There have been over 2,600 events of various kinds held in the China Pavilion with the gardens of Beijing, Yunnan, Jiangxi, and Hunan being the most-visited provincial and municipal exhibition areas.
There are two weeks left before the expo closes on October 7. It is expected to see another spike in visitors over the upcoming week-long National Day holiday, said Ye. Also, a three-day international culture and tourism festival is going to take place during the holiday.
Themed ''Live Green, Live Better,'' Beijing Expo features a vast collection of flowers, fruit trees, Chinese herbal medicines and plant landscaping techniques, as well as ideas for green development.
